Another few Saturdays and our city Farmer’s Market will be in the rear view mirror. It’s always a fun little trip – and you really should wander around Fleet Park and see the city event at least once this year.
The music has been good and varied this season. Today a duo from Ocean Shores called Fish Don’t Bark took the stage for the day. I don’t want to upset any of the others that come and go…but these two were my favorite. If you need a music thing for your event….find them….book them. Trust me. This is Montesano. It’s so small we would be happy with a bad accordion player playing jazz Polkas, but the organizers really go all out with the entertainment. All of the people they bring in need to be acknowledged. Except maybe that Nirvana Tribute spoon player. To be fair though, he did have them up and dancing to Teen Spirit.
Another group I want to call attention to at the events are the Friends of the Library organization that show up most every Saturday. Yes, you can buy a book or two at the table, but you can also learn about what they do and even join the organization and get involved. They are a very community involved grounp and do good work for the town. Stop by and say hi. If you miss them this year, stop by the Library and they will have information also.
My only complaint this year, and it isn’t the fault of the organizers, is that I haven’t seen even one actual farmer selling any veggies at all. Nothing. What’s up with that? Try some out reach. Come on guys…..Farmer’s Market?
They are still fun and lots of tabling for local churches, community groups and local craft makers. Year after year, it is well organized. You get to see lots of people you know and dogs are always welcome. If you want to be a part of it, contact City Hall.
