Can you say Blackberry Pie….sure, knew you could. Its time. Acres and acres of ripe Montesano blackberries ready to pluck. You have about a week from right now until the mold starts forming. Above pic is what I picked just walking Rocky to do his potties this morning. Enough for Blackberry pancakes for the whole winter.
For those interested, I did a rather extensive article on MONTESANO BLACKBERRIES several years ago. I’ll put it below for those interested. Thousands of pounds of them out there all over town.
Oh, and for those of you who used to pick them along the road into town by 10th street, that was my property. Tons of them, until…..that Mayor of ours decided he wanted to have the entrance into town look all pretty and stuff and had the city clean them all out and plant trees for shade and stuff. Now I have to walk all the way into my back yard by the pond. Oh well, I hope you people enjoy making me walk down to the pond. Grass and trees, why in my day……. If you need a good spot, just go along the little bridge over Sylvia Creek off Wynoochee Ave and S 10th St. and there are tons of them. Down at Sterling Landing on the Wynoochee just outside of town there are a good twenty acres of them.
